Pre-order price was valid until March 31, 2024 Matching figures and accessories:U.S. M8 Greyhound crew 1:16U.S. M8 Greyhound accessory set 1:16The M8 was actually intended as a light tank destroyer, but since it was already clear at the time the decision was made that the 37 mm cannon could do nothing against the German tanks, the role of a reconnaissance tank fell to it. With a 110 hp (82 kW) engine, the six-wheeled vehicle reached speeds of up to 90 km/h on the road. In a rotating turret was a 37 mm cannon and a coaxial .cal 30 (7.62 mm) machine gun. Additionally there was a .cal 50 (12.7 mm) machine gun installed in a rotating ring on the turret or a mount at the rear of the turret. Due to its high speed and light armor, the M8 was called the Greyhound by the British.
The M8 saw its first use in Italy in 1943. In addition to Europe, it was also used in Asia. A number of vehicles were also delivered to the Allies. After World War II it was used as an occupation vehicle, but also in the Korean War. The police received M8 and were on duty there until the 1990s. The German Federal Border Guard and riot police also used such vehicles. Even today M8s are still in use in Africa and South America.
