The Sd.Kfz. 251 (Sonderkraftfahrzeug 251) was a German World War II half-track armored personnel carrier developed by Hanomag based on the unarmored Sd.Kfz. 11 halftrack.
The vehicle was designed to transport Panzergrenadiers into battle.
The Sd.Kfz. 251s were the most produced German halftracks of the war, with at least 15,252 vehicles and variants produced by seven manufacturers.
The version Sd.Kfz. 251/7 was armored engineer vehicle, known as the mittlerer Pionierpanzerwagen.
The vehicle had more storage space for engineer equipment, due to the omission of a bench seat, and small bridges on brackets on the vehicle sides .
